When Christmas approaches, it is now an annual tradition for my sisters and I to prepare a list of gifts... that we would like to receive. The gift will be as spontaneous as you want, but I prefer to unwrap something that I can imagine, rather than something that I will never use, as happened to me several times at this party. One of my sisters explicitly ordered me “No books on the list” this year, because my lists were at least 99% populated with books. The rest a few CDs or DVDs, but nothing else. Stories, therefore, to read, listen to, see. Seriously, I really don't know what to write on a Christmas gift list.
In my shopping list on Amazon there are 280 books that I would like to buy. When will I succeed? I'm registered with I can't remember how many online bookstores. I scour eBay looking for used books that are no longer on sale. Since September I have purchased Mdpapu$%4 several volumes of fairy tales from a series started years ago. I found novels that I didn't know, but of which I had seen the film adaptation. There are 13 books on my desk. I no longer know where to put the new arrivals, I'm inventing unexpected spaces, hiding places that I hadn't imagined before. The library ran out of space a long time ago.
Luckily my parents built a house in the country, so I was able to take several of them there. But even there in my room I ran out of space and a row of books is beautifully displayed on the desk. Days ago I cleaned a space in a wardrobe, throwing out a lot of old stuff and packing the rest better: more space gained for future books. A great satisfaction. For me, the spaces in my home have now become potential book holders. And luckily I don't buy comics anymore, or at least I don't follow anything that comes out anymore.
